Troy Gold was an American home video distributor from Burbank, California.

History[]

Troy Gold was formed by Viking Entertainment sometime around early 1988 (shortly after Viking Entertainment itself was acquired by Handleman Company in late 1987) as a merger between Video-SIG and Viking Entertainment's home video label, Viking Video Classics. They released a decent number of b-movies and public domain cartoons.

B-movies were released during the label's first year of existence. Short public domain cartoon compilations were the last few titles released under the label.

Around early 1989, Handleman acquired Burbank Video and Video Treasures. The original Burbank Video was later merged with Troy Gold to form a new incarnation of the former label.

Some of the label's releases were later ported over to the VHS line Hollywood Favorites by its successor, Burbank Video, in 1993.
